When you look at artists, you often wonder how it's like to see the world with their eyes, to have their senses, to feel what they feel, and you wonder about their thoughts and ideas, too.
What it's like to be an artist? You have this excentric set of ideas, ideals, preferences that sets you apart from everyone, you are unique. However, this originality leads to loneliness. You are different, you are not quite 'normal'. You follow your own path, you breathe a different type of air, your very core is made of a different material, you can be adored or you can be rejected, you could be loved and you could be hated for what you do. It is no longer a matter of who you are and what you are, it also involves what you create and the reasons behind your creations.
People insist: "Why don't you draw like everyone else?", "Why do you always spend so much time doodling? There's no use on it if you cannot sell it!".
And you think then: "Is it worth it?"
Worth what? Worth the critics, worth the isolation, worth the pride you feel afterwards?
I once read that writing a book was like giving birth to a child. I think the same about a picture, a photograph, a song. You pour a piece of your soul on everything you create, you want people to think of you when they see what you did. You also want people to feel the same thing you felt while creating it. When you succeed, then you feel fulfilled. You then think it is all worth the pain. Creating is like breathing, also. When you feel the urge, you cannot stop it, you cannot withstand it, it's impossible to resist it. But in order to do it, you need to be alone. It is a process that's way too intim and personal to share. As an artist, you are selfish, and solitude is often the price that you pay for the path you chose.
Confirmed: Art is a jealous mistress. You should see my scars.

Every time a doujinshi artist draws Doc x Schrodinger, Rip Van Winkle eats a kitten. Please, think of the kittens

P.S.: me dispongo a ver tu galería
